Smart and perceptive teen

Jayden (9500)

Jayden is a smart and perceptive teen who enjoys his social life — but doesn’t let that get in the way of his academics or time spent on other activities. He’s at his happiest when he’s hanging out with friends, playing basketball, sitting around a bonfire, or even just walking around the neighborhood. Get him talking about video games, and you’ll find out that Jayden’s got a head for stats and can develop a gaming strategy like no one else! Like many teens, Jayden does well in school when he applies himself, but sometimes needs additional encouragement to stay focused. He’s proud of his academic accomplishments, and appreciates when the adults in his life acknowledge his progress and achievements.

Jayden would do well in a single-parent or two-parent home, and would especially appreciate having a strong male role model. He does well with other children in the home, although it is important that Jayden have his own space to relax and unwind. Parents will need to be patient and allow Jayden to open up on his own timeline; when he doesn’t feel pressured, he can form strong bonds with caregivers.

Structure and routine are important for Jayden, and he functions best when he knows what’s expected of him. Like any teenager, he may test boundaries every so often but at heart Jayden is a respectful young man who values relationships and treats others with respect. It is important to Jayden that he has input into the decisions that impact him, and that he be given some independence. He has strong bonds with some members of his family of origin, and it is important to Jayden to maintain those relationships. Interested families should understand the impact that trauma can have on children.
