Looking for a family to give her a chance
Kaleeysia (9456)
If there’s one thing that Kaleeysia (known as “Kay Kay” to her friends) wants you to know about her, it’s right here in the note that she wrote to potential families.
“I’m not a bad kid. I just need someone to count on and who will give me a chance and not give up on me.”
Not every teen is brave enough to be vulnerable like this, to ask families to keep an open mind and consider her, even though she’s had some real struggles in her short life.
Kay Kay would love a family that does lots of activities together – and even better if those activities are sports-related! She really excels on the basketball court, and has had the opportunity to learn leadership skills while being on a team. She would be delighted to have a family where she could have lots of cousins – more people to pal around with! She might also humbly say that she’s one of the best rappers out there; she’s got a ton of rhymes and is happy to bust them out! Kay Kay also has some great dance moves, so don’t be surprised if you find her dancing while listening to her favorite songs.
Kaleeysia would do well in either a two-parent home or a single-parent home with supports. Though she wants a large extended family, Kay Kay would prefer to be the only child in the home, so that she receives plenty of attention and support. Honest about her past and looking forward to a different future, Kay Kay is eager for a supportive and stable family that she can trust and rely on.
Kay Kay would benefit from strong role models or mentors who can model positive behaviors and appropriate communication and she grows into young adulthood. Kaleeysia would like to remain in-state as her siblings are in Indiana, and she wants to maintain some contact with them. Interested families should understand the impact that trauma can have on children.
