Family Forums are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, and are intended to be a time of education, constructive dialogue, and support. Occasionally, topics of particular interest may also be discussed during a lunch hour forum.
Returning to Center: Managing the After-Effects of Trauma Behaviors
We’ve all heard people use the phrase “calm before the storm.” We don’t hear phrases about getting back to calm after the storm nearly as often. Maybe that’s because few of us know how to return to that blissful state before everything unraveled; or, if we do, we worry that whatever we did to get back to center before won’t work the next time.
As parents, though, it’s up to us to help bring the family back to center and re-establish stability. Being able to do that can take a lot of work, but it’s critical for rebuilding and enhancing attachment. Join us as we explore how families can navigate this uncomfortable post-chaos time to work their way back to a state of stability.
