Family Forum: When Your Circle of Support Falls Apart

May 4 at 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

Family Forums are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, and are intended to be a time of education, constructive dialogue, and support. Occasionally, topics of particular interest may also be discussed during a lunch hour forum.

When Your Circle of Support Falls Apart

We talk a lot about how important it is for foster and adoptive parents to have support – your own little village of sorts. There’s even a training tool called “The Circle of Support” that most of us have used at some point to identify those people in our lives who will be there at a moment’s notice, and ascertain just how much support we already have and where we may need to add some more resources.

But what do you do when the circle of support you’ve identified falls apart? How do you navigate that, and the potential impact on other aspects of your support network? We’ll talk about how we can shore up the shakier parts of our network, and things to consider when adding new members to the village.

All Recommended families will receive an email inviting them to register for upcoming Forums. If you are Recommended and have not received an email invitation, please contact us at iap@fireflyIN.org. If you are not Recommended with Indiana Adoption Program, but have recently adopted or are in the process of finalizing an adoption and would like to participate, please email your request to your local adoption consultant.
